Incluso calidad de vida en lo "laborable" es Navarra y País Vasco, ni si quiera es Madrid entre economía y empleo. Tampoco es barata la vida allí, mejor ir camino dirección Galicia (su inconveniente, la falta de empleo/calidad y salarios más bajos, pero los costes se reducen mucho, hacia el occidente cantábrico, norte). No sabía que eras de Nueva Zelanda (mi zona favorita del globo), ahora que lo sé, tu lugar es el norte de España. Tienes vínculos con Galicia, incluso quizás también con Asturias y Cantabria. Goodness, I live in Florida USA, and seeing what you pay for groceries and other things like health care make me want to sell everything and move there. Even with inflation,you guys are about a 1/3 of what we pay for a family of 3 here.

I am sorry to say but I do not find Aussie´s and Kiwi´s reviews of Europe helpful in any way. It seems you miss multicultural aspect of dozens of countries and cultures packed in the small continent. And above all you avoid negative comments like big corps avoid taxes... meanwhile the cons hits you hard when moving to another country. I have lived and worked in 8 countries in Europe and am moving now to Spain, but you did not share anything useful here. However, some of those "unspoken" rules are mainly social standards (i.e. public transportation manners), which otherwise could be put as "although you're visiting what feels like an underdeveloped country to you, please behave as you would at home". And please, be polite, a "gracias" or "por favor" is never given for granted and as in many other places, it will make things easier and more pleasant for you! :D

I have been a Spanish resident since 1998. I agree with most of your negs. I double down on the banks. They are much worse than you describe. I owned a small business, between 8 to 40 employees dealing on the season. I paid everyone correctly, paid all taxes and still made money. If you can’t afford to pay your employees, maybe you need a new business plan.
